H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie Welcomes Mr. Yui


November 11, 2014: His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the honor of warmly welcoming Mr. Kazunari Yui, a teacher from Japan Women’s University High School, to the Embassy. Accompanying Mr Yui was a teacher from Afghanistan Ms. Lailoma Dawood and two Afghan students Ms. Anosha Asekzay and Ms. Sara Roman. Ms. Dawood is teaching at at Japan Women’s University High School and Ms. Asekzay and Ms. Roman are undertaking their studies there as part of a highly valuable program which allows Afghan students to receive education in Japan and return home to Afghanistan to participate in the development of their country.

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed his deep gratitude to Japan Women’s University High School for their highly valuable efforts towards furthering girls’ and women’s education in Afghanistan. H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie said that the education of girls is one of the most fundamental aspects of improving the lives of all Afghans because the education of girls will provide a generational shift that will have positive repercussions throughout society as well as for future generations.

Due to the success of the program, H.E. Ambassador Dr. Fatime made a request to Japan Women’s University High School to expand the program and except more Afghan girls to study in Japan. Mr. Yui agreed that the expansion of the program should be attempted and he will work with his department to try to facilitate the necessary changes.

Third Secretary Mr. Amiri further extended the Embassy’s hospitality by leading the group on a tour of the Embassy. The Embassy was honored to have the Chief Director of the Eurasia Club present who kindly assisted in the coordination of the afternoon’s events.
