Condolence book opened for martyred citizens in 1978 and 1979

October 2-3, 2013: A condolence book was opened at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in order to pay respects to martyred persons whose lives were taken between 1978 and 1979 by a brutal regime. The names of some 5,000 of these martyrs were recently revealed and the condolence book allowed signatories to pay respects.

Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie and the staff of the Embassy received a number of honorable persons on this occasion, with the Ambassador expressing sincerest gratitude, on behalf of the people and the Government, for their respective condolences.

Signatories included H.E. Ambassador Shigeyuki Hiroki, former Japanese Ambassador to Afghanistan; Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of Burkina Faso, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Kosovo, the Republic of Maldives, Nepal, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the Republic of Zimbabwe; as well as several representatives of the Japanese Government, other missions in Tokyo, and the Afghan community in Japan.
