Ambassador Fatimie welcomes Mr. Nagakura, Mr. Asefi

March 5, 2013: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie welcomed to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo renowned photographer Mr. Hiromi Nagakura and good friends of the Embassy Mr. Farouq Asefi. Mr. Sayed Ali Asghar Amiri, Third Secretary, also represented the Embassy in the meeting.

Mr. Nagakura has a long association with Afghanistan, having spent time with the late Commander Ahmad Shah Massoud, continuing to spread awareness of Afghanistan through his masterful photographs, and operating the Yama no Gakko school in Afghanistan.

Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed great appreciation and admiration for the remarkable work that Mr. Nagakura has done to both educate the Japanese public about Afghanistan and to educate Afghan youth. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie highly praised the photographic work of Mr. Nagakura as a window in to the nation. Mr. Nagakura in turn presented the Ambassador with a number of books and a calendar of his photographs. He promised to continue to progress in this noble mission.
