Ambassador Fatimie, Diplomats support Afghan fighter Bahadurzada

March 3, 2013: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie and the Diplomats of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo attended the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event in Saitama, Japan in order to offer support to Afghan fighter Siyar Bahadurzada.

Mr. Bahadurzada, a symbol of bravery and hope, fought with heart and courage. Although he was defeated by his opponent, he was gracious and vowed to come back even stronger in the next competition.

In addition to speaking with Mr. Bahadurzada, Ambassador Dr. Fatimie and the diplomats had the honor to meet with officials and superstars from the UFC, prominently including Mr. Mark Fisher, Managing Director of Asia; Mr. David Stern, Talent Relations and Sports Development for Asia; and Mr. Reed Harris, Vicer President of Community Relations; to thank them for arranging this amazing event, and for providing the opportunity for such an inspirational Afghan athlete to perform.
