Ambassador Fatimie attends seminar on lessons learned in Afghanistan at Aoyama Gakuin University

July 6, 2012: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie and Mr. Yuki Takeda of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan attended the JICA-organized seminar "What we have done for Afghanistan since the first Tokyo Conference in 2002: Lessons learned from the past experience" at Aoyama Gakuin University. This event was one of the events in the series of parallel activities organized in conjunction with the Tokyo Conference on Afghanistan.

In his keynote speech, H.E. Mr. Wais Barmak, Minister of Rural Development and Rehabilitation, discussed the importance or a relationship between Afghanistan and the International Community of partnership, not donor-recipient, adding that Afghan ownership is necessary for best results in development. Other esteemed speakers included representatives from the Afghan offices of the Agha Khan Foundation, the Asia Foundation, and JICA.

Ambassador Fatimie had the opportunity to speak with participants and the organizers, expressing sincerest appreciation for the excellent arrangements and the clear and thoughtful messages sent forth, stating that this event would serve to enhance the partnership in the next stage of Afghan peace and development.
