Ambassador Fatimie attends Public Seminar on United Nations Security Council Reform

July 22, 2014: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie, along with Mr. Mohammad Yasir Karimi and Mrs. Orya Afzali Farima, attended a Japanese government public seminar on United Nations Security Council Reform, entitled “Towards a greater convergence through engagement with civil society.” The event was held at the Prince Park Tower Tokyo hotel.

The public session featured opening remarks by H.E. Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Hirotaka Ishihara and H.E. Mr. Zahrir Tanin, Chair of the intergovernmental negotiations on the equitable representation and increase in the membership of the Security Council. Other key participants included H.E. Mr. Noel Sinclair, Deputy Chef de Cabinet of the 68th Session of the United Nations; H.E. Mr. Motohide Yoshikawa, Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations; and representatives of a number of esteemed nations and universities.
