Ambassador Fatimie signs condolence book in memory of H.E. former Speaker of the House and former Ambassador Foley

October 23, 2013: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie visited the Embassy of the United States of America in order to sign the condolence book of the esteemed former Speaker of the House and Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Mr. Thomas Foley.

At the Embassy, Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the opportunity to express to Mr. Kurt Tong, Chargé d’Affaires, and Ms. Donna Ann Welton, Minister-Counselor for Political Affairs, sincerest gratitude for the sacrifices that have been made by brave Americans for the sake of liberty, freedom, and democracy in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Ambassador Dr. Fatimie stated that the highly-grateful Afghan people will never forget this selflessness.

On behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, please accept my sincerest condolences on the passing of H.E. Mr. Thomas Foley, former Speaker of the House and former Ambassador to Japan. A man who exemplified the American democratic spirit and strengthened friendship with Japan and the world, he will be remembered.
