Ambassador Fatimie attends reception honoring Independence Day of Republic of the Philippines

June 11, 2013: Ambassador Dr. Sayed M. Amin Fatimie attended a reception honoring the Independence Day of the Republic of the Philippines at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. On this most auspicious of occasions, Ambassador Dr. Fatimie expressed to H.E. Ambassador Manuel M. Lopez sincerest congratulations on behalf of the people and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Furthermore, Ambassador Dr. Fatimie spoke of the gratitude that Afghanistan extends for the cooperation that the Republic and her citizens have given in the area of development and for what the Department of Foreign Affairs, through the kind facilitation of H.E. Ambassador Lopez did, on Ambassador Dr. Fatimie’s visit.

Among the key guests that Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the fortune of interacting with was Hon. Representative Yasuo Fukuda, former Prime Minister of Japan, and Hon. Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi (pictured above), the leader of the New Komeito. The Ambassador expressed, on behalf of the Afghan people and Government, deepest gratitude for the generous, effect-generating support that Japan has provided in the areas of development and peace. In particular, Ambassador Dr. Fatimie emphasized the important role that Hon. Representative Fukuda and Hon. Representative Yamaguchi have respectively played in their key positions. These sentiments were expressed similarly when Ambassador Dr. Fatimie had the honor of speaking with Hon. Councillor Kenji Kosaka, Secretary-General for the Liberal Democratic Party in the House of Councillors and Chairman of the Commission on the Constitution. Both Hon. Representative Fukuda and Hon. Councillor Kosaka emphasized that continued Japanese cooperation with Afghanistan is important, as is the peace and prosperity of Afghanistan for the world.

Ambassador Dr. Fatimie also met with a number of Their Excellencies the Ambassadors of missions to Japan, Senior Managing Director Hiroyuki Yushita of the International Friendship Exchange Council, and Executive Managing Director Nagahisa Kamijo of Sawarabi Co., Ltd.
