World Environment Day In Kabul

H.E.Environment

His Excellency President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani was the most remarkable participant in Kabul’s action for the framework of the World Environment Day (WED). This event, set on each year’s 5th of June since 1972 by the United Nations aims to highlight a particular environmental stake. The WED theme this year is “Seven Billion Dreams. One Planet. Consume with Care”. This is an idea H.E. President Ghani wants to share from Kabul to the whole of Afghanistan as part of the country’s development.

For this occasion, H.E. President Ghani and all the volunteers wore orange colored vests specific to the municipality’s employees. The objective was to remind people that respecting the city in which people live are essential. Cleaning the streets and keeping them clean is a small step everyone has to make for the country to go toward full recovery.

H.E. President Ghani said “Our lives are not separate. Unless we treat our streets, our cities and our country as our own, we can’t remain comfortable in our houses.” As Kabul is willed to become a capital like anywhere in the world - which requires everyone’s involvement at his own level – the President added “Citizenship does not only come with rights, but also responsibility”.
