First Female Police Chief Appointed

Colonel Jamila Bayaz was named a new police chief in Kabul earlier this month. She is the nation’s first female to hold the position and is in charge of the first station that was established in the city.

The presence of women in the police force is increasing greatly. The Ministry of Interior expects to hire around 10,000 new female police officers this year and is considering

the possible promotion of the first female regional police chief.
