Twelfth Civil Aviation Day Marked

Afghanistan's growing civil aviation market bringing in millions in revenues.

Sunday marks worldwide Civil Aviation Day. The annual event is held to highlight the importance of aviation in the modern world.

The event was established by the UN in 1996 and is organised by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). Afghanistan has been a member of ICAO since 1956.

Afghanistan currently earns $150-160 million each year from the use of its airspace by international airlines.

There are approximately 60 internal and six international civil flights in Afghanistan each day.
