Eight uplift projects completed in Panjshir

Mahmud Raqi, December 27, 2007 (Pajhwok Afghan News): Eight uplift projects at a cost of $100,000 were completed in northern Panjshir province on Thursday by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitations and Development (MRRD).

Panjsher MRRD head Sirajuddin Mehraban told Pajhwok Afghan News pavement of four kilometer road in Paranda, digging two wells and four irrigation schemes were included in these projects.

He said the projects were completed under National Solidarity Programme (NSP).

Mehraban said over 400 projects have been allotted to Panjsher, out of which 138 have been completed so far, 189 are under construction and the rest will be launched soon.

"These projects would cost 500 million afghanis", he added.

Haji Amrudin, an elder of Paranda welcoming the reconstruction drive said the villagers were very happy with the reconstruction of roads and other projects as it would solve numerous problems.

NSP projects are implemented with the consultation of local communities.
