Courtesy Call by Ambassador-designate of Japan to Afghanistan; H.E. OKADA Takashi


November 11, 2020: H.E. OKADA Takashi, Ambassador-designate of Japan to Afghanistan, visited the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Tokyo today to pay a courtesy call to Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat.

Dr. Mohabbat congratulated Ambassador OKADA on his new appointment and wished him every success in his new mission. He also took this opportunity to thank the Government of Japan for condemning the recent terrorist attack at Kabul University and for echoing the voice of the people and Government of Afghanistan for an immediate and sustainable ceasefire.

Both sides discussed a range of issues, including various areas of bilateral relations between Japan and Afghanistan, the Afghan peace process and the need to preserve the hard-won gains of the last two decades during the peace talks, and preparations for the 2020 International Conference on Afghanistan to be held in Geneva later this month.

Ambassador Mohabbat extended his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the people and Government of Japan for their immense contribution to the reconstruction and development of Afghanistan over the last two decades.

Mr. Najibullah Safi, Counsellor and Mr. Nasrullah Rozbeh, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Tokyo also attended this meeting.
