Ambassador Mohabbat Participated in JICA Memorial Symposium for the Late Mme. OGATA Sadako


November 2, 2020: Ambassador Dr. Mohabbat participated in a Memorial Symposium hosted by JICA for the Late Mme. Ogata Sadako “Embracing Human Security in Meeting Global Challenges in the COVID-19/ Post COVID-19 Era”. Dr. Ogata Sadako served as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for ten years prior to her tenure of the presidency of JICA until 2012.

In a panel discussion, the invited panelists exchanged views on the development of Japan’s international cooperation with the concept of human security. H.E. Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan gave a video message to show wholehearted gratitude to Mme Ogata’s consistent commitment and engagement to help people in need with human security approach.


JICA also delivered video messages of renowned representatives of international communities including H.E. Mr. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and invited prominent speakers to discuss international cooperation in the COVID-19/ post-COVID-19 era.

Mr. Najibullah Safi, Counselor and Deputy Chief of Mission also attended this meeting.
